40 WhatsApp follow-up messages for sales (copy and paste)

By the OakDeal team ·

Short answer

A good WhatsApp follow-up message is short, personal, adds one useful thing and ends with an easy next step. Use the lead’s name, mention what they asked about, and offer a specific option such as a time slot. Below are 40 templates for every stage: after an enquiry, no response, quotation, appointment, payment, after a sale and re-engaging old leads.

Copy, paste and change the words in square brackets. Each template is written to be short, polite and to end with an easy next step. For when to send each one, see how often to follow up with leads.

Rules that make any template work

  1. Use their name and what they asked about. “Hi Priya, about the 3BHK in Sector 50…” beats “Dear customer”.
  2. One message, one point. Long paragraphs get skipped.
  3. Add something. A photo, a price option, an answer, a deadline.
  4. End with an easy next step. Two choices are easier to answer than an open question.
  5. Send within business hours. And stop when they ask.

Right after the first enquiry

  1. Hi [Name], thanks for messaging [Business]! [Answer their question in one line]. Can I ask [one qualifying question]?

A note on WhatsApp rules

If you use the WhatsApp Business Platform (API), any message you send more than 24 hours after the customer’s last message must use a template approved by Meta. Most of the messages above can be submitted as templates with placeholders. Inside the 24-hour window you can write freely. More in WhatsApp Business app vs API.

Stop doing this by hand

Templates help, but the hard part is remembering to send them. OakDeal sends routine follow-ups and reminders by itself within business hours, stops them when the lead replies, buys or opts out, and lets the AI write a natural reply when the lead responds. Your team only steps in when a person is needed.

Frequently asked questions

How do I follow up on WhatsApp without sounding pushy?

Keep it short, add something useful each time (an answer, a photo, an option), give a specific next step, send it during business hours and give the person an easy way to say not now. Avoid repeated "any update?" messages.

What should I write when a client does not reply on WhatsApp?

Try a message that makes replying easy, such as offering two choices, or a polite close-the-loop message: "Should I close your enquiry for now? You can message me anytime." Many people reply to that.

Can I send follow-up messages on WhatsApp after 24 hours?

On the WhatsApp Business Platform (API), messages sent more than 24 hours after the customer’s last message must use a template approved by Meta. On the regular WhatsApp Business app there is no template rule, but mass messaging can get a number restricted.

How many follow-up messages should I send?

Around five to seven touches over two weeks, mixing messages and calls, then a light monthly check-in. Stop when the person says no or asks you to stop.
